In short: Parkinson’s brings its own challenges at home: rising from a chair, turning in bed, freezing when walking, and fatigue through the day. The right equipment can help with all of these: a lift recliner to help you stand, an adjustable bed to make turning and getting up easier, and walking aids chosen with balance and freezing in mind, with a scooter to save energy over distance. Because Parkinson’s changes over time, trying before buying and being able to adjust matters. We work with your OT and physio, and offer a free assessment and in-home demos. Call 1300 225 203.
Rising from a chair
One of the common frustrations with Parkinson’s is losing the momentum needed to stand from a chair. A lift recliner chair uses a powered motor to tilt gently forward and bring you to your feet, taking away that difficult moment. For comfort through long periods of sitting, tilt-in-space and good pressure care help, and if fit is a problem the chair can be made to measure. Our lift recliner chair guide explains the options.

Turning and getting up in bed
Turning over and getting out of bed can become harder with Parkinson’s. An adjustable bed can raise the head and knees to make sitting up and getting out easier and safer, and the right mattress supports comfortable positioning through the night. See our adjustable beds guide.

Walking, balance and fatigue
Walking aids for Parkinson’s should be chosen carefully, because freezing and balance change what helps. Alongside the right walking aid, gentle movement helps too: Parkinson’s Australia notes that regular exercise can improve balance and coordination and lower the risk of falls. A rollator with a seat can support balance and give somewhere to rest, and the right setup matters. Where fatigue and distance are the challenge, a mobility scooter helps someone conserve energy and stay independent and out in the community. Our guides to walkers and rollators and mobility scooters can help.
Choosing for how things change
Parkinson’s is different for everyone and changes over time, so the best approach is to choose equipment that helps now and can be adjusted, and to try it before committing. We work alongside your occupational therapist, physiotherapist or Parkinson’s nurse, offer a free assessment and personalised suitability test, and provide compliant quotes for the NDIS, Support at Home or DVA. See our funding guide. You are always welcome to try things at home first, with no pressure.

Common questions
What is the best lift chair for Parkinson’s?
A powered lift recliner is often ideal, because it removes the hard moment of standing when momentum is a problem. For long periods of sitting, look for tilt-in-space and pressure care, and a made-to-measure chair if fit is difficult. We will help you choose and let you try it.
What kind of bed helps with Parkinson’s?
An adjustable bed makes turning, sitting up and getting out of bed easier and safer, and the right mattress supports comfortable positioning. We can match and set one up in your home.
Can mobility equipment for Parkinson’s be funded?
It can. Depending on age and situation, funding may come through the NDIS, the Support at Home AT-HM scheme or DVA, usually with an occupational therapist assessment. See our funding guide, and we can provide compliant quotes.
Should I buy now or wait, since Parkinson’s changes?
Choose equipment that helps now and can adjust, and try before you buy. We offer free in-home demonstrations and work with your clinical team so the timing and the choice are right.

My grandpa recently bought an electric mobility scooter from Mobility Co in Cheltenham, and he couldn't be happier. He said the team was incredibly patient, friendly, and took the time to help him find the right mobility scooter for his needs and height. They answered all of his questions and explained the different options and what to look for and never made him feel rushed or pressured. Seeing the range of scooter options in the showroom made it easy for him and mum to find the right scooter. If you're looking for a mobility scooter in Melbourne, I'd definitely recommend visiting Mobility Co. The service was genuine, professional, and made the whole process easy for both my grandpa and our family.

Our family bought an adjustable bed and mobility scooter for my grandpa from Mobility Co and the whole experience was fantastic. Great showroom in Cheltenham, genuine advice with no pressure, and delivery and set up were sorted within days. Grandpa loves both, he's more comfortable at night and getting out and about again. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

We had an excellent experience with Mobility Co. Daylan was fantastic in helping my parents choose a mobility scooter, an adjustable bed, and a recliner. Nothing was too much trouble, and he truly went above and beyond to make the process easy for us. He even offered to bring equipment to us if getting to the showroom was difficult. When we visited the showroom, we were given plenty of time to try everything without feeling rushed, and the team made us feel very welcome by offering refreshments. The service didn't stop after the purchase. Daylan personally visited before delivery to check there were no access issues, and then came back afterwards to make sure everything was set up properly and to explain how to use the equipment again. The customer service was outstanding from start to finish. Daylan's kindness, patience, and genuine care made all the difference. We highly recommend Mobility Co to anyone looking for quality mobility equipment and exceptional service.
